New Year’s Day

i think there’s is something special about New Year’s Day and this is most perfectly exemplified by the older couples in the crowd. I like the way they hold their flutes close to their hearts and the lights reflect in their glasses. I like the way their heads lean towards one another and they patiently watch young ones yell and scream and chant- just like when they were the young ones! Just more flashing lights and phones in faces this time.

I like kb trying to catch the right firework picture for forty-five minutes.

I like the dogs and their snow boots.

I like the crowd getting off the mini bus with helmets and ski goggles, snow boots and a sled. No hill in sight but it’s fine it’s a Swiss aesthetic.

and these likes happened because we stepped outside. Good things happen then.

There are many pieces of 2023 I would rather forget and file away, but I think there are more I’m lucky to remember.

I want to laugh more, ski more, and get a dog in 2024.
